Hot Mix Asphalts

Mezcla Bituminosa en Caliente

HMA (HOT MIX ASPHALTS)

TRABIT’s main activity is the manufacture and application of hot and cold mix asphalt.

We produce every layer included in articles 543 and 543 of PG-3 in our asphalt plants located in Velilla de San Antonio (Madrid), with a total capacity of 500 Tn/h., and La Solana (Ciudad Real), with a total capacity of 200 Tn/h.

We also have our own laboratory to carry out quality controls.

The plants located in the centre of the country can provide asphalt to Madrid, Guadalajara, Toledo, Ciudad Real, Albacete, Cuenca and Avila.

We also invest a great deal of effort in researching new techniques, which has produced the following special asphalts:

RUGOBIT (BBTM MIXTURE)

Gap-graded hot mix asphalt used on the wearing course in thin (3 to 4 cm) or very thin (2 to 3 cm) overlays, depending on the state and geometry of the base layer. The fraction of the aggregate used is missing between 2 to 5 mm (gap grading), which provides the mixture excellent properties despite its thinness.

This mixture provides surface drainage and significant noise reduction (3 dBA) compared to a conventional mixture, while also providing high adherence.

SMA MIXTURES

Hot mix asphalt manufactured with a high percentage of bitumen (> 6% s/a) and cellulose fibres, providing greater durability and quality. This type of mixture has traditionally been used in airports due to its greater performance. It is currently being used for all types of urban and interurban roads.

DRENOBIT (PA-16 MIXTURE)

Drenobit is a fast-draining hot mix asphalt applied as a 4-5 cm thick wearing course. It is highly valued for its virtual elimination of puddles, noise reduction (4 dBA) and safety.

BASEBIT (MAM MIXTURE)

Very dense high modulus asphalt, manufactured with much harder bitumen than normal (13/22 penetration), which is used as a base layer that offers a similar bearing capacity as gravel cement but without the well-known cracking and deformation problems.

This mixture also provides significant savings in the overall thickness of the road.
